I always looked forward to our visits with Alice Meryl, because we were always guaranteed a good laugh. My Mom (Helen Weaver) always wished she could have visited Jacksonville more often.
Talking with Ruth 6 weeks ago, I heard how sick Alice had been, and she had been on my mind frequently lately. Last week, I had old pictures out, and saw a photo of the last time Joe, Alice, Ruth, and Mother were together in Monon...they were all laughing.

Dear Family:
I am so sorry that we cannot be with you at this time.
I have such fond memories of Aunt Alice. We were all so close growing up, I remember so well Mom and Aunt Alice making donuts "lots and lots of donuts". And the times of eating shrimp and crabs that Dad and the gang caught. The Christmas Eve family party was a highlight of my childhood.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you even if I cannot be there in person.
