Sincerest condolences to all the Outwater family. My husband Yusuf Matta was a member of John's research team on the Polaris missile, 1960-62, and he and Alice were guests at our wedding in Burlington, 10 December, 1960. We have corresponded over the years and when I did not hear from Alice I decided to look for news of her. To my sorrow I found that she had passed away. I have kept her letters, her books and many of her newspaper articles, and will treasure them. We have shared stories and...

We got to know Alice through her husband, John, in 1980. Through the years we enjoyed her company, and admired her independence. She was very generous, and pursued her goals (both academic and literary) until the end. She was a wonderful example of living life to the fullest-as long as you have life.

Condolences to my classmate, John, and the rest of the Outwater family. Your mother was an amazing woman. Sending you wishes of happy memories and peace.

We knew Alice for many years starting when our daughters were in Overlake Day School.

As a Board Member of the Mozart Festival, I always appreciated how loyal Alice and John were as they attended and sponsored concerts and hosted parties.

Sincerely , Kay and Richard Ryder , Shelburne, VT

Alice and John Outwater

I briefly knew Alice from a yoga class. She always was elegant in her skirt , knee socks and hat. The twinkle and joy in her eyes was uplifting. To her family and friends keep the stories alive. There must be many of them of this beautiful soul.

Outwater Family,

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother, Alice. She was a remarkable woman and I enjoyed every interaction I had with her. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
