Alice McFeatters Pickering

Aunt Alice was one of the most influential persons in my young academic life. She taught me how to golf, appreciate literature, and introduced me to "The Little Book." Her support was unwaivering and as I grew she followed my career closely and was a friend to both me and Alexis and remained close to both Zachary and Samuel in their young academic lives.
I will always cherish her memory and the indelible influence she imparted. "Learn how to study!" was her mantra!

I am so saddened by this news. Alice was a great, great friend of my late mother and when she and Mr. Pickering came last spring to my mothers 90th, followed,sadly, by her memorial shortly thereafter, I was struck by her energy and enthusiasm. I'm sure she will be greatly missed by her family and friends and is at peace. Jamie Shaler

Alice was one of the classiest ladies that I have ever known. Her size was never an indication of her integrity and strength. She was unquestionably one of the "giants" that so many teachers at State High tried to emulate.

I will always value the encouragement which Alice gave me during my teacher training days while enrolled at Penn State. She continued to be a friend and each time I saw her upon my visits from Australia, she delighted me with her enthusiastic reception.

Howard, So sorry to hear of Alice's passing. I speak of her often as one whose youthful spirit belies her chronlolgic age. I hope to be as fortunate.

Mrs. McFeatters (as I knew her) was always one of my favorite people. I first met her in the early 1970's when she was the coach of the girls high school golf team. I spent many afternoon practicing my golf swing under her attentive eye. In later years I would run into her in the Weis Market over on Westerly Parkway. She always remembered me and would stop and ask about my parents and my family. I will always remember her fondly as a patient, caring and delightfully positive person . . . she...
