Alice Mary Wamsley

Alice Mary Wamsley, 90, formerly of Norfolk, VA, passed away on August 9, 2012, in Chesterfield, VA. Alice was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Margaret and Vincent Bowes. She was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII, where she attained the rank of Chief Yeoman. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Old Dominion University and Master of Arts from Norfolk State University. Alice founded Tidewater Musical Theater and was a voice teacher. She was the widow of Russell Wamsley and is survived by three daughters, Kathleen Doswell of Richmond, VA, Maureen Wamsley of Gaylord, MI, and Alice Buckler of Gaylord, MI; three sons, Christopher Wamsley of Richmond, VA, Vincent Wamsley of Norfolk, VA and David Wamsley of Sparta, NJ; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Isabelle Lambert of Methuen, MA. She was predeceased by her daughter, Anne Marie Walsh; and a sister, Lucy Barrasso. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Funeral services are private.
