Not sure what to say?

For some reason it is only now that I hear of this great author's death. His works, particularly the Winning of America series were important to my youth and to my love of reading. His voice will be missed.

One phenomenal historical researcher. One phenomenal author and story teller.

I am saddened to hear of Mr Eckert's passing. My father loved him and talked endlessly about their encounters at the book signings at The Log Cabin. He shared his passion and books with me turning me into a fan of Mr. Eckert's writings he is and always will be in the top 3 of my favorite authors. May the Great Spirit in the Sky grant you safe passage to Heaven. You will be missed.

I have enjoyed Mr. Eckerts books for years. He is one of my favorite authors. He will be greatly missed.

There will never be another Allan Ecket. My favorite writer of all time.Thank you for all of those joyful hours I spent reading your great books. You will be greatly missed.

I am an Ohio native and have taken Mr. Eckert's stories with me wherever I have lived. Making some of Ohio's great history available to the world was just one of his many gifts. He will be missed.

(apology for no capital letters) i just discovered mr. eckert's work this year - listened to "the frontiersmen" from audible.com over the past couple months. at 46 and a native ohioan, i finally crossed paths with his great works - has opened up a new world of appreciation of history of our ohio valley to me - i've  been awestruck by his depth of research.
congratulations, mr. eckert, on leading a life with meaning.  you've  left a worthwhile legacy for the rest of us to enjoy in the...

I read Mr. Eckert word for word and have spent 43 years researching what he provided.
Some persons are living legends.

It it possiible Mr. Eckert in his memorializing the All American Nobles, American Indians and Frontiersmen, has become one of them too!.

Mr. Eckert, you were one of the best. Your research was mind boggling. I enjoyed your footnotes as much as I did your articles and books. You helped to educate thousands on our rich Ohio History. We will miss you tremendously but you will always live on in the works you left for us.
