Thank you Allan for all you have done.I would like to have done that while you were still here. I remember Flight No.19well.I was in the crew that spent two weeks searching for the missing planes. God Bless Allan for his work.

A very inspiring person & friend.

Mr Mac was very instrumental in helping to form my two sons futures who were cadets in the Naval Cadet Corp and the FLHS NJROTC. We were highly recommended by him as a family when one of them being investigated for submarine security clearance. They are career navy veterans. Thank you Mr Mac for following their careers.
May God bless your soul and may you rest in peace.

Thank you for keeping this story alive. Goerge Paonessa was my Great Uncle. His brother, my Grandfather, was a no show on his first date with my Grandma because it was the night he found out his brother went missing. When my Grandparents finally got together they fell in love, wed and named their first son after Goerge.

Alan, (Pops)
You were such an inspiration to all who crossed your path. Thank you for saving and sharing the museum with others. You will always be in our hearts. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss you dearly! Thank you for allowing me to call you "Pops". You were like a father to me. I think of you each time I play your records! You have a great family. I pray they can have peace and comfort in knowing you touched many lives with your sweet spirit and kindness. ...

Thank you for keeping the memory of Flight 19 alive. Thank you for allowing me to be part of one of the ceremonies when I made Uncle Howell come alive instead of being just a name. I will miss seeing you at the naval station. I was fortunate to have known you. God bless you.

so dear a man...met him with my family during the LeyteGulf commissioning here in Port Everglades in 1987...he was flying over head taking his wonderful photos of everything. Now perhaps he's meeting the flight #19 crew. "Red tails in the sunset..." Bravo Zulu Al.

Alan, you were a special guy, and I'm very proud you were my friend. Thanks for all you did to preserve the memory of the veterans who served at NAS Ft. Lauderdale. We miss you, Sir. Godspeed.

The Pembroke Pines Historical Museum extends sincere sympathy on the passing of Allan McElhiney, founder of the Naval Air Station Ft. Lauderdale Historical Museum.
