Not sure what to say?

I'd only known Allan a few months through Presbyterian Hospitals Strides to Strength program at the Dowd YMCA. Allan was a kind and gentle man, you could just tell. I've since learned through the article in the Charlotte Observer by Gerry Hostetler what a wonderful man Allan really was. I wish I'd had the opportunity to know him better. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

I grew up with Allan in New Iberia, Louisiana. I remember him as a wonderful friend and classmate who was always a gentlemen. I last saw him at our 30th high school reunion - he looked great and we all had a good time reminiscing. My prayers and sympathy go out to his sons and the rest of his family. MSL

Allan was such a loving man and he cared so deeply for his beautiful sons. He brought joy and bounty to so many people and my family is deeply saddened by his death. Our thoughts are with Charles and Ian.

I HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING ALLAN,I WAS HIS BANKER AT RBC. HE HAD A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR AND ALWAYS MADE ME SMILE WHENEVER HE CAME IN. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. TAKE COMFORT IN KNOWING THAT YOU'RE LOVED ONE TOUCHED SO MANY LIVES AND MAY HIS SOUL REST PEACEFULLY IN HEAVEN

We sang with Allan in the choir at Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, where he is still vividly remembered for his generous spirit and sense of humor. He showed compassion for others even when undergoing struggles of his own.

We send deepest condolences to his family.

My Uncle Allan was a beautiful person. He was very giving and selfless. When my father and his brother(Charles Reed) died, my Uncle Allan played a big part in me getting through it.

Uncle Allan was mystified and angry when he was diagnosed with lung cancer, from which my father and his father died of. Both of our fathers were smokers though and Uncle Allan was not - I hope he has all of the answers he was searching for about why him and I hope his soul is at peace.

What a wonderful man, my Uncle Allan. More than anything, I miss the time we didn't get to spend with you. You are always in my prayers. Be in peace with my dad, your parents and sister. No more pain, God has taken you home.

Allan was my daughter's piano teacher for the past 1 1/2 years. He was patient and encouraging. His student recital last June was wonderful. He gave each student a beautiful, personalized introduction. It was very memorable. We are sad to lose him.
