Not sure what to say?

I learned just today, December 1, 2022, of Allan´s passing. He was the most enlightened educator among the many whom I encountered, either as a student, or as a teacher at four fine schools. Allan´s leader ship at The Lovett school made my three years teaching there, 1972-75 the most meaningful and productive experience in my teaching career. Beverly R. Williams

Allan Strand was a wonderful man in so many ways. He was a kind and thoughtful friend and confidant, a terrific tennis coach, and a leader and role model in his position as vice headmaster at MUS (Memphis University School) in the 1960's. I lost touch of him for a long time, only to be reconnected to him thanks to David Howorth of Oxford, Miss. During the last few years of his life, we had several long telephone calls of shared memories at MUS and Memphis, usually involving tales of his...

One of my best images for all time is the one of Anne and Allan Strand dancing at Anne's birthday party. The ultimate picture of love, grace, and beauty.

One of the toughest matches I ever played was in the finals of the Anniston Country Club tennis tournament. I was in high school and playing this old guy (12 yrs my senior), so I expected I could out last him. Three sets and 2 or 3 hours later he out lasted me. With the age spread, I didn't know him, so I was very impressed with his accomplishments mentioned in the obit. People like Allen are few and far between. Not many things I remember from 63 years ago, but that match is one of them.

Dr. Strand was the headmaster at Anniston Academy until my senior year. He was also my ninth grade English teacher. I used to babysit his kids. Yet when I sit down to express my sorrow at his death, I can´t find words that are sufficient to describe what I believe his family members - as well as those of us he influenced throughout his career - have lost. He was a good, decent man. He will be missed. May his memory be a blessing.

My father and I knew Dr. Strand from Lovett, and we both respected him in every way. Best wishes to his family and friends.

We have all lost someone dear to us in our life, but there is always hope. 1Thess.4:14

Dr. Strand was headmaster at Lovett during my high school years. A quiet man, steady, intent. And an avid tennis player. R.I.P. Rob Friedman Lovett `77
