Ellen, Mario and Family,
Frank and I are so sorry to hear of Allan's passing. Although its difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tommorrow. Our hearts go out to you in the days ahead.

I am John Ives and I lived next door to Al in my first year at Andover. He was a good friend and a truly fine photographer. I still have some of his work. It was great to see him last summer at our reunion. I was surprised he had turned into such a fine lawyer because I don't remember him being argumentative at all.

Mr. Tuttle will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to all of his family. Sending my deepest condolences...

Al was my roommate at Andover and Yale. He was a big part of the formative years of my life, as well as a wonderful friend in recent years. I'm so sorry he's gone. My sincere condolences to Ellen and all of Al's family.

How we will miss this man of great intellect, generosity, and high achievement. Our love and deepest sympathy to dear Ellen and to Allan's whole family.

We feel very honoured to have known Allan during our years in Washington. We will cherish these memories always. We send the family our deepest condolences.
