Age 54 , of Highland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He is survived by his loving children, Evan and Ella Mills; brothers, Scott (Patti) Mills and Steve (Beth) Mills; mother of his children, Arica Smith-Mills; nieces and nephews: Kayla, Addy, Ryan, and Jacob; good friends, Tim (Lisa) Kiourtsis and Steve (Luanne) Jurczak. Known for his warm heart and unwavering dedication to those he loved, Al’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his beloved children, who were the center of his world. His kind spirit also touched the lives of countless friends who were lucky to know him.

Al cherished evenings gathered around the campfire, where stories and memories were shared. Starbucks coffee brought him comfort, and his playful habit of feeding the squirrels endeared him to his community. Al was also a passionate Cubs fan, cheering for his team wholeheartedly through every season.

Al’s legacy will live on through his children, whose futures he always prioritized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to them to support Evan and Ella.
