Allen Lawrence Chickering

I just learned, with shock, of Lawry Chickering's death in "Farewells" section of the March 2024 issue of the STANFORD magazine. I met Lawry Chickering in the early 1970s at the Caffe Trieste, where I, a Stanford assistant professor, played every Saturday morning with two old Italian gentlemen for about a decade. Lawry left a deep impression on me when I met him in his last year on this earth. I know that had we met earlier, we would have had many good hours of conversation and probably could have pushed some more progress out in the world. Lawry was one of those people the world need so many more of right now. I hope I can be helpful in progressing EGG with Larry Biehl. I wish you all a wonderful day full of his inspiration. I was so sorry to hear about Larry´s passing. What an interesting life he had! His uncle Bill was my father´s best friend at Thacher and Dad was Larry´s godfather.I was on the Thacher Board with his Dad who was so proud of him.
