Couture, Allen B. age 80, of Deerwood, MN, formerly of Brooklyn Park, passed away on 11/16/05 surrounded by his family. Allen will be deeply missed by wife, LaVerne of 57 years; his 3 daughters, Nancy Berthiaume, Cindy (Lowell) Nordin and Kathy (Rick) Blesi; 5 grandchildren, Jonas, Monet, Angela, Abby and Alex; great granddaughter, Devyn; brother, Walter; sisters, Leonna and Beatrice; numerous nieces and nephews. During high school at Patrick Henry, Allen participated in Golden Gloves, worked at Land O' Lakes and then joined the 11th Airborne Paratroopers for 3 years. Found the love of his life, LaVerne and was married in 1948. Allen was a 41 year employee of NSP. He retired in 1989. Former president of Bay Lake Lions Club. Organized and ran annual Bay Lake Auction for several years. Council member for St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Deerwood. Participated in building fund drive for St. Alphonsus Church. Allen was a remarkable man, caring husband, loving father, brother, grandfather and friend. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and helping others and touched numerous lives and will be greatly missed. Family wishes to express their gratitude to the Wellstead Alzheimer's Home of Rogers. Special thanks to the caring and supportive staff. Visitation Sunday, Nov. 20 from 4-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Chapel, corner of Penn and Dowling Aves. N., Mpls. Prayer service 7:30 PM. Visitation also one hour prior to service at church. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Monday, Nov. 21 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 7025 Halifax Ave. N., Brooklyn Center. I worked for Al at NSP during the 70's. He was a great guy,and always made sure the guys in the field had everything they needed.
