Epps Sr.

Allen Lewis Epps Sr. son of the late John and Rebecca Spicer Epps, was born on July 17, 1942, in Louisa, Virginia. He departed this life at the Louisa Health Care Rehabilitation Center on Friday, September 10, 2010.

Known to his family and close friends as "Dukie", he accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He then became a member of the First Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Reverend B.D. Ellis. On Sunday mornings, he would walk to Sunday school to be taught the Word of God.

His early education was received from the Louisa County School System. After attending Louisa Training School, he lived and worked for many years, as a truck driver in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Upon returning to Louisa, "Dukie" was employed as a maintenance worker at Holley's Market in Trevilians, Virginia, for 15 years.

"Dukie" leaves to cherish his memories tow loving daughters, Wanda Epps of California and Sherita Hester of Charlottesville, Virginia; a devoted son, Allen Epps Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two brothers, John Epps of Louisa, Virginia, and William Ragland of Ruckersville, Virginia; his Godmother, Mrs. Susie Quarles of Louisa, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 102 Meadows Avenue, Louisa, Virginia, with the Reverend Bruce S. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Thomasson Watson Funeral Service of Louisa is in charge of arrangements.
