Not sure what to say?

Working with Allen on the Capitol Preservation project one couldn't help but notice what a gifted architect he truly was. All Texans should be thankfull that Allen McCree came our way, and stopped long enough to restore our beautiful Capitol and have the vision to construct the underground Captiol extension. No one and I mean no one did more for this project than Allen MCree, the Architect of the Capitol. My deepest sympathy to the family on the passing of this great man.

Meredith, synchronicity brought me to an online notice of your father's passing. Although I never knew him, I recall the stories you told me about growing up while we were in studio together. Knowing how much he meant to you, I want you to know that I am thinking of you and wishing you and your family peace.

My sympathy to the family of Allen. One thing that will help you get through this situation is God's word the Bible. And there He assures us: "Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart and those who are crushed in spirit He saves. The Bible gives you hope of seeing Allen again right here on a paradise earth in the very near future. It also promise us that our enemy death will be no more. May these words give you a measure of comfort and strength to endure in this time of such...

Elise wrote to me and informed me of Allen's death. We are cousins, and even though we hadn't seen each other in years, I am saddened to hear of his passing. I will keep your family in my prayers.

Lynn,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Meredith....Allen contributed greatly to Texas and to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Your family is indeed so very special....you all are in the thoughts and prayers of so many, many friends!

I met Allen about 25 years ago during our service to the Texas Society of Architects. At quarterly Board meetings and at our annual convention, we would harmonize (and I use that term loosely) on our favorite hymns. My thoughts are with his family during this time of great loss. Our profession was certainly graced by his membership in it.

I was saddened to hear about Allen, but was pleased (though not surprised) to hear of his Capitol Building renovation success).

allen and I were classmates at A&M, class of 1959 and were in the same outfit--B Field Artillery. We worked on the "Aggieland" together, and he was instrumental in the success of the 1959m book. i think he was the Editor of the 1960 Yearbook.

Allen was special.

My wife Nita is a very close friend of Allen's daughter. I have only had the pleasure of knowing Allen for the last four years, but he was an extremely nice man. I also worked at the Capitol for several years and enjoyed the work he put into the extension. I think we take for granted that everything we see around us started as someone else's vision. Allen was truly gifted and will be missed.

Allen and his sister, Elise, grew up with me in Midland. I have fond memories of being in the McCree house for many years. Allen was taken from us way too soon.
