I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Martin's passing. He was an avid sailor, a hard worker (there wasn't a task he wouldn't tackle) a brilliant person who was fun to talk with, and a very close friend. The world will be a sadder place in his absence.
Our hearts go out to Ann, and I hope you find solace in knowing your husband was a true gentleman and friend to all.

I was stunned to learn of Martin's death. We were sailing last weekend and reminded again of how fragile the connection to life can be out on the water. Ann, if you read this, know that I'm thinking of you .....

I was so sorry to hear Martin died. He had an infectious love of sailing that I noticed when I first met him around a Union Bay skiff at the Seattle Boat Show. He talked about the boat for some 45 minutes. I ended up building one -- with his and Ann's help -- in the charter Family Boat Building class at the Center for Wooden Boats. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship with wooden boats, the Center and the warm Center community of which Martin will always be a cherished part.

I was deeply saddened by the news of Martin's death. Although I have not kept up with him since our time together in Portland and Boston, I have always looked upon our friendship as strong and his professionalism was a credit to the lab and people around him. I am sorry for our loss.
