Not sure what to say?

Every time I see an unusual flower or bird, I say, "Hi, Allen!" He was a sweet soul and his love of nature was captivating. Hope you and Jim are having a good time together.

We feel so fortunate to have had a chance to share some special times with Allen. His wonderful smile, willingness to share his knowledge with anyone interested, gave him a very special charm -- we always felt so good just to spend a little time with him. I'll always remember that sparkle in his eyes as well as his gentle manner.

Wonderful memories of a warm and witty gentleman. Kelley Happ

Dear Allen was my father Jim Hermann's good friend. After my dad passed, I felt my father's presence through Allen who continued as a dear friend to me. We walked on the beach last summer sharing conversation and friendship. As a fellow birder, Allen's enthusiasm for nature and photography gave me a beautiful way of connecting to my dad's best friend!! Much love to his family, Lauren Hermann Peck

My cousin Allen,
Our friendship was punctuated over years and continents, always with love and much laughter. It was a privilege to have been touched by his life. Now hopefully I can continue the rest of my days being connected to his wonderful family. With heartfelt love to them in their time of sorrow. Lil cuz, Sondi

I love you Uncle Allen. I wish I could have spent more time with you when you came to visit us. I didn't think that goodbye would be our last.

I am blessed to be the daughter of such a great man. His love for me will forever live in my heart. Hey Dad, I turned out pretty good! Thank you! I love you Mom, always and forever.

My condolences, Phyllis...
I remember Allen as one of my favorite patrons at the Lake Forest Library! His enthusiasm always brightened my day. The world was richer for his presence.

I am so sorry for our loss. Allen will be truly missed. My love to his family and loving wife and my friend, Phyllis.
