Not sure what to say?

Dear Muriel,

My condolences to you and your family on Allen's passing. If you remember the family of Marshall and Jean James from First Church during the 50's and 60's, then you might remember me as their youngest daughter. Jean, an alto, was one of your choir buddies, and I went on to sing alto with the choir during the 70's. Fond memories of choir parties (several around our swimming pool), and sitting behind the organ and facing the congregation which appears to still be that...

I tried to sit near Allen especially when I first joined the FCUCC choir in 2003. Being able to follow his lead in the bass section helped a lot. There probably wasn't a piece of music he didn't know the bass part. Good memories.

I was always so honored to speak with Mr. Van Veen at church. He was such a warm and caring man. He was an example of the type of person we all aspire to be.

Fond memories of singing with Allen in a joint choir (FCUCC + Garden Home Methodist) under the direction of Jean Nilsen. The choir retreats were really special. too. I also applaud his work with the Beaverton School District.
