Allen T. Wright, 88, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 12, 2025. Born in Springfield, son of the late Harry and Betty (Hawes) Wright, he grew up in Springfield and was a 1955 graduate of the former Springfield Commerce High School. He graduated from Western New England College in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Allen began working for Western Massachusetts Electric Company in 1955 as an electric pole counter and retired in 1997 as Vice President of Data Processing and Systems Analysis. He lived in West Springfield and in Otis for many years. Allen was also very active in youth sports. First as a coach and leader of the West Springfield Youth Soccer League for many years and then as a volunteer for MA Hockey and USA Hockey. His tenure with MA Hockey began in 1984 and spanned the next 40 plus years. He not only sat as the Chairman of the Rules Committee from 1999 until his retirement in 2016 but also MA Hockey Vice President and President for several years and is still a Director Emeritus for the organization. He was inducted into the MA Hockey Hall of Fame in 2008. Allen was also a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War where he worked as a cryptographer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family on the lake in Otis. His wife, Barbara A. (Marsters) Wright died on October 7, 2019. He leaves four sons, Richard T. Wright and his fiancé, Karen Davies of Agawam, Charles V. Wright of Agawam, Robert A. and Patricia Wright of Enfield, Mark J. and Leslie Wright of Pepperell, MA, two daughters, Susan L. Wright-Taylor and her husband Michael Taylor of Ashburnham, MA, Nancy A. and John Daly, Jr., of Monson, a brother, John Wright of Westfield, seven grandchildren, Joshua Robbins, Derek Wright, Jacob Wright, Colin Wright, Grace Wright, John Daly III, Evelyn Wright, and many nieces and nephews.
