HALBLEIB, Allie Martin, 92, of Ashland, Va., died December 21, 2009. Mrs. Halbleib was born on November 1, 1917 in Ellerson, Va. to James Toler and Lillie Mahone Martin. She was predeceased by her husband, Julius Bernard "Dutch" Halbleib Jr.; and one grandson, Sloan Kemp Headrick; also, two brothers, Willie Martin and Jesse Martin; six sisters, Mae White, Josephine Bradley, Margaret Peed, Helen Staples, Florence Baskett and Virginia Martin. Survivors include one son, M. Craig Halbleib and wife, Donna; Martha H. Headrick and husband, Ron; Jane H. Jones and husband, Yancey; five grandchildren, Sydney L. Halbleib, Yancey S. Jones Jr., Dutch M. Jones, Marshall C. Halbleib Jr. and Clay R. Halbleib; one great-grandchild, Indigo Z. Drake; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Halbleib spent 26 years as a teacher and guidance counselor, inspiring and guiding students in Hanover and Henrico schools. A graveside service for family will be held December 23, at 1 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Ashland. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Mrs. Halbleib's life on Saturday, December 26, at the Jones' home, 11311 Dairy Lane, Ashland, from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ashland Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 667, Ashland, Va. 23005, or to a charity of your choice.
