Dear Brown Family, Forgive my belated response to your Dad's passing. Barbara and he were best pals to my late parents Molly and Chuck Jewett in Lyme. He and Chuck were law partners for 50 years (your Dad gave a eulogy at Chuck's memorial in 2000), sailing and travel buddies, and firm believers in the benefits and joy derived from raising a family on a farm.
Your Dad was a gracious and funny man, and I will miss his wise counsel. Woody Jewett (Charles W Jewett Jr)

Our sincere condolences to all the family. Wayne let us know as both Marie and I have fond memories of Mr Brown from our visit for Thanksgiving in 2000. I especially remember the great conversations and for me particularly the short trip he and I made to collect the turkey!
I often tell friends about the calibre of the gentleman I met that year.
Rest in peace.

My sympathy and more to the family of such a fine man. His kindness was legendary; his compassion, pride and love for his family, service to his community, brilliance in law, all seemed to find balance in ways I have never seen since and never will I am sure. He was particularly kind to my own mother in 1962 when we lost my father at the age of 49. Allyn Brown and Jim Dutton especially were so kind, At the time of Daddy's death my oldest brother, now deceased, had been scheduled to go to Mansfield after over 22 years at home with us. Words are not sufficient here to describe Allyn Brown, his efforts, intervention for her at that time, understanding, etc. were extraordinary. For those thousands who have known this humble and caring man would agree that while life was full, he never wanted accolades or praise. May his children, grandchildren and all his family and close friends find solace in the knowledge that he is now with your mother, and may your memories help assuage your grief today, Those same memories will indeed brighten your life for having had him as your father, grandfather, etc. Rest in Peace, Mr. Brown, and thank you.

Daniel, Allyn, Gail, Sarah, Jean & Paul: It is indeed a very rare and talented man who can make such a profound impact upon the lives of his children's teenage friends. Your dad was consistently kind, interested, friendly and never failed to welcome us (however stupid we were) into your home. A very, very nice man who I will miss greatly.
