Alma Rae Bartley
Alma Rae Bartley, age 85, of Midland, Va., passed away Friday, March 20, 2009 at Fauquier Hospital.
Alma was born on January 3, 1924 in Shelby Gap, Kentucky. She was a faithful member of Yorkshire Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Jack Bartley and one son-in-law, Billy Joe Tonkin. Survivors include two daughters, Gladys B. Tonkin of Midland, Va. and Sally K. Shaffer and her husband, Harley of Appomattox, Va.; four grandchildren, William R. Tonkin and his wife, Jennifer, T. Andrew Tonkin, Karin D. Robinson and her husband, Curt and Larry R. Shaffer and his wife, Leslie; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Tonkin, Thomas Tonkin, Gavin Robinson, and MaKenna Robinson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 23, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Yorkshire Free Will Baptist Church, 7620 Chestnut Street, Manassas, Va., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, Va.
