Frazier-Mitchell Funeral Service, Inc. - Houston Obituary

Alma A. Posey, affectionately known as "Lil' Ma" or "Big Mama" was born on October 6, 1935, in McCrea, Louisiana, to the late Mr. David and Viola Allen. She was one of eleven children, and from an early age, her life was rooted in family, love, and faith.

Alma later moved to Lettsworth, Louisiana, where she met the love of her life, Roland Posey, Sr. & on July 29, 1951, the two were united in marriage. Their union was blessed with six sons and two daughters. Though they endured the sorrow of losing two sons and one daughter at an early age, Alma's unwavering strength and faith carried her through.

In 1963, Alma and Roland moved their family of five children to Houston, Texas. There they formed a lifelong bond with Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Rideaux, Sr.

Alma and Wilda Rideaux shared a beautiful friendship that spanned more than 60 years.

Alma was a woman of deep faith. She and her family joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor G.W. Johnson. She later became a devoted member of Tabernacle of Praise Church, led by Pastor John S. Pyles Sr., where she faithfully served until God called her home in September 2025.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland "Big Daddy" Posey, Sr.; three of their children, Hazel Lee, Ray Charles, and Roland "Dig" Posey, Jr.; her parents, David and Viola Allen; and her ten siblings. She is survived by her 2 sons, Larry Posey, Sr. and

along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-

grandchildren, several God-children, her dear friend Harry Walker, and a host of extended family & friends who will cherish her memory.

Alma has now reunited with her beloved family in eternal rest. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, resilience, and faith that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.
