SIMS, Alma Sue (Blakely) - Of Flint, age 74, went home to meet the Lord on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alma was born in Trenton, Tennessee on June 14, 1937. Sue was a proud homemaker and bookkeeper. She enjoyed her garden, golfing and bowling. Sue and Jessie participated in the Senior Olympics in Florida and won many medals in bowling. Sue loved spoiling her children and grandchildren and traveling with her husband. Sue had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a special way to make everyone laugh. Alma married Jessie Shelton Sims on December 31, 1959. The two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary two years ago surrounded by family. Sue is survived by her husband, Jessie; daughter, Cathy (Eugene) Brunk of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; son, Mike (Karen) Sims of Flint; granddaughters, Danielle and Jessica; grandson, Michael; brothers, Donald (Jane) of Atlanta, Georgia and Bobby (Becky) of Trenton, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and three brothers. Your condolences may be shared with the family at
