SITTERDING, Alma Ashburn, went to be with the Lord on November 10, 2010 to join her loving husband, Frederick "Fritz" B. Sitterding III, her soulmate of 63 years. Mrs. Sitterding was a charter member of the Windsor Farms Garden Club, where she exhibited her love of making floral arrangements. She was a longtime, active member of the Tuckahoe Woman's Club, where she exhibited her magnificent oil paintings which received numerous awards. Alma was grateful for this God-given talent. Mrs. Sitterding was a life member of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, a member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation because of her desire to preserve the Bay, and a member of the T.J. Alma and her husband, Fritz, enjoyed many wonderful, happy years at their river home in Hartfield, Va., on the Piankatank River and at The Hermitage at Cedarfield, where they were blessed with many friends. Her remains will rest at Bliley's-Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Christian Wake at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation, 8642 General Puller Highway (State Route 33) in Topping, Va. Not sure what to say?

Adam, Beth, and family:
I'm so sorry you've lost the ability to see and touch your bloved grandmother but I know you are rejoicing for her as she is now with God and can no longer feel the pains of this world. She has been reunited with all her loved ones who went before her and is celebrating her life and rewards in God's Kingdom! May God's Peace surround you and your family, Adam.

To my dear friends, Alma's family,
Alma and I began painting in 1981. Immediately I saw that she was an unusually talented and gifted artist. Soon after that we bonded as life-long friends. Until we moved from Richmond to Washington State a year ago, Alma and I loved to visit whenever we could. She was beautiful in every way. I miss knowing she is here on earth with us to continue being as vibrant as she was. Bless you Alma for the gift you gave to all of us, your friends. Love...

So sorry to hear of your loss. Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.

The Sitterding Family,

We are so sorry for your loss. She was so lucky to have the love of each & every one of you. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

We love you,
Steve, Jen, Ellie & Anna Harris

We loved your Mom so much and we so looked forward to her visits to the "Mountain Place". She was so much fun and we will miss her dearly. We will continue to keep each of you in our prayers as the following weeks and months will be very hard for you.
Our love,
Eddie and Evelyn Hines

Mrs.Sitterding has been a wonderful inspiration to me since the day I met her back in 1996. Her smile would light up the entire room whenever she walked in. My prayers to her family come from my heart where her smile will live on forever. May she rest peacefully with her beloved Fritz.
