UPTON: Alma E. ( Gross ) Whittaker, 94, a resident of West Upton for over 60 years passed peacefully February 21, 2009 in Beaumont of Northbridge. Her husband Clyde E. Whittaker Sr. passed in 1980. She is survived by her two daughters Claudine A. Polselli of Grafton, Barbara E. Robinson of Tuscon AZ, her son Clyde E. Whittaker Jr. and his wife Sharon of Linwood and three generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Clifton B. and Lena A. (Davis) Gross, three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Whittaker was born October 30, 1914 in Belfast Maine, raised there graduating from Belfast High School. She worked many years as a hat puller in The Upton Hat Shop and waitressed at the former Howard Johnsons Restaurant in Grafton Center and The Klondike Inn in South Grafton. Mrs. Whittaker deeply loved and enjoyed her family and times spent with them all. She also enjoyed camping seasonally for many years at Bourne Scenic Park Campground, fishing, hunting and knitting. Memorial donations are suggested by her family in lieu of flowers to The Grafton Food Bank, 30 Providence Road, Grafton MA 01519. Service and Calling Hours A Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday February 25th at 10 am in The Roney Funeral Home North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. in North Grafton. She will then be laid to rest with her husband in Riverside Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday February 24th from 6 to 8 pm in the funeral home.
