I always enjoyed Al's sense of humor and generosity. I was once having lunch with a friend at a Foley restaurant and spotted Al. When the time came for the bill, he had already picked it up. He came by our table to chat afterwards. I was able to help him once when my wife and I were driving past his house and I saw him struggling to push a large TV up a ramp to a dumpster. Yes, he actually cleaned some out. I made a U-turn to help him and we visited awhile. He always stopped to talk.

I dont remember ever meeting cousin Al,but I am sure he was a wonderful person. From reading his tributes he led a long and loving life and has gone to his just rewards. We can all be happy for that.

My grandfather is an incredibly special person, and he will be sorely missed. Nothing about Grandpa Al's life was quiet--not his bright blue house, not his multitude of televisions sets, and definitely not his sense of humor! He claimed to be quiet as a church mouse, but anyone spending more than a few minutes in his presence knew that wasn't really the case. Grandpa knew how to make the best of any situation, and maintained an aura of mischief, even in the later years in the nursing home....

I too have many fond memories of Al. I will miss that great big smile that he seemed to have for everyone.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Herman, Roy & Al at the home place
Al was continually happy. I visited him on Wednesday, 3 days before he passed. When I asked how we ws doing, he responded with a smile and an "OK" sign with his fingers. Earlier in life, I recall staying over with Al, Alan and Ade on Saturday nights, staying awake nearly all night, then heading out with the boys to deliver the Sunday newspaper in Al's chevy Corvair sometime around 2:00 AM.
