Dr. Alphonse Salerno

I know it is very late, but I wanted to offer my condolences. Dr. Salerno had an office in Roseland, NJ, not far from where I lived on Green Avenue. My mother was a nurse at West Essex General and worked with Dr. Salerno. In 1972, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Dr. Salerno not only helped her cope with her Dx , but was supportive of our whole family. Thank you, Dr. Salerno for being there when we needed you.

I am sorry to hear of Dr. Salerno's passing. He was our family physician for many years and we shared a memorable event. He performed the first surgery conducted at West Essex Hospital sometime back in 1960 or so, when he removed my tonsils. We always recalled it over the years. He remained my physician since that time, keeping me in good health and even doing the blood tests for my marriage license. I, like many other of his patients, thank God for having sent us such a great doctor to care...

Dr. Salerno was a true gentleman and a scholar. I learned so much about medicine whiile working for him when attended graduate school. He was a rare physician who really cared about his patients and was able to give them the care they deserved. He will be missed by many people. My sincere condolences to his family.
