As I sat during a virtual STEA meeting today, this reminder appeared. How timely. It is so hard to believe a year has passed since we lost Mr. Al Mance, Sr. Whenever he presented at any type of TEA function he could recite from memory poems, a stanza from a poem, the classical pieces, the lines from an old hymn, or some historical piece that needed to be brought to the attention of the audience. I was in awe and encouraged by his prolific skills. I still miss that today. He was God's...

Alphonso "Al" Mance was my Sunday School teacher and a wonderful friend and true example of a Christian. He was very kind and outgoing. He would stop in on Wednesdays when I made the beds for Room In The Inn and would always lend a much appreciated helping hand. It is hard to believe a year has passed since you left us. I smile when remembering you, Brother Al, and just say thank you for the honor of worshiping with you. You taught myself and many others so much and lived your life in a...

I was saddened to read of the recent passing of Alphonso Mance Sr. who, I believe, was my high school chemistry teacher in the Yeshiva of Long Beach around 1971. I was always interested in science, but Mr. Mance opened up for me the world of analytical science, wherein you connect calculations with real-world experience. For example, given the...

So sorry for the loss of Mr. Mance. He was such a warm, pleasant person in my dealings with him over many years at his bank. I know he will be greatly missed by his family, his church, and all who knew him.

Al was highly regarded and much loved during his time in New York. He was not only a consummate professional; he was a dear friend who gave me counsel that made a real difference in one of my son's life. As much as I know that we are aging, in my mind's eye Al will always be that young man who cared and gave so much. I am deeply saddened at his passing. Our sincere condolences to Kathleen, Ajuan and Alphonse.
