Alton "Wayne" Funderburk, Sr., age 64, of Amity, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010.
He was born on December 17, 1945, in Murfreesboro, the son of Willie Harrison Funderburk and Margie Ann Lockeby Funderburk. He was preceded in death by his father; his son, Brandon K. Funderburk; and his niece, Lorie Funderburk.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving as a Captain in Vietnam during 1968 and was a Christian. He was a beloved son, father and brother and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Margie Funderburk of Amity; his wife, Cindy Funderburk of Amity; two sons, Wayne Funderburk, Jr. of Arlington, Texas and Michael Funderburk of Amity; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharyn and Ronald May of Kathleen, Georgia; four grandchildren; one brother, Don Funderburk of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 29, 2010, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Steve Ashe and Bro. Don Lane officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Interment will be in the Hicks Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
