Kirkley-Ruddick Funeral Home - Glen Burnie Obituary

Alton Robert Kinder was born on May 1, 1936, to Gustav and Ida Kinder, on the farm that would later become "Kinder Farm Park".   He graduated from Arundel High School in Gambrills, Maryland in 1955.

Several years later he was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Fort Knox, KY.  There he met and married his first wife Katherine Casey.  After his military service ended, the couple moved back to Maryland, but Alton was recalled back to the Army in 1962 due to the Cuban missile crisis. After his honorable discharge he came back to Maryland and eventually became a glazier.  He went on to have four children with his first wife Katherine, 3 boys and one girl: Mark, Kevan, Aaron, and Deborah.  They later divorced in 1975. Years later, Alton reconnected with Maxine Seman whom he had dated before his first wife. They were married in January 1987 and stayed married until his death at 86 on May 5, 2022.

Alton also went by “Bob” or “Al” at different times over the years.  Alton loved his garden and enjoyed taking care of his house and yard.  In his later years, when he could no longer work around the house, he did enjoy watching western movies and shows like Gunsmoke.

Alton is preceded by his parents, Gustav and Ida Kinder, his eldest son Mark, brother Leonard Wilbur Kinder, and nephew David Kinder.  He is survived by his wife of 35 years Maxine Rose Kinder, his sons Kevan and Aaron, his daughter Deborah, his grandsons Arik and Brayden, and his niece Diana.

Family and friends may visit at the KIRKLEY RUDDICK FUNERAL HOME on Monday, May 09 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm.  Funeral service Tuesday, 11am at the funeral home followed by interment at Glen Haven Memorial Park at 12pm.
