From our earliest records in the United Staes through 1977 only 177 women had ever received a phd in economics and statistics, Dr. Alva Marion Matherly Clutts was one of them. Mother really enjoyed her time at The University of Texas. Dad finished Architecture School in 1951 and stayed on the faculty to teach in the School of Architecture while mother finished her Disertation. She was really pleased that I chose UT and enjoyed showing me all around Austin in the early 1980's.
