Dr. Fields and his wife would come to Sekiu every year when I was a young girl working at The Cove. He would make jokes about me needing to rub his head to keep him from falling asleep during dinner bc he would get up early to go fishing. He and his wife were always so very kind to me. They would always ask for my section and I was only in my teens - he taught me the proper way to open wine and he always left me a great tip! Again....I was a very young girl but I always remembered him and his wife and how absolutely beautiful I thought they were together.

We missed both of you in Friday Harbor this past summer! We always looked forward to hearing your arrival on channel 66A. We meet a lot of people each summer, but a few stick with you in your heart as being really great people that you hope to see again. Al and Lee were in that catagory! For several summers we listened for, and heard them arrive in the harbor...and we were glad to catch their lines, help them tie up and share a toast! Al and Lee set an example of true love and support for all to admire. May God provide his family strength until they meet again.

Dr Fields was my family's doctor while my brother and I were growing up. I have very fond memories of him. He always put us at ease and I will remember his friendly smile. I also remember his mother and father who worked at the Terrace Clinic. My sympathies go to Mrs. Fields and all of the family.

In 1972, my family moved to a house across the street from the Fields. Dr. Fields and his son Scott were the first to come over and welcome us to the neighborhood. I have many fond memories of Dr. Fields and will always cherish the kind words of support and time he spent with my mom, my sister and I when my father passed away. The neighborhood will miss him; and I will miss the Styrofoam cooler full of salmon and watching him pulling that small American red flyer cart to and from his boat.

I grew up across the street from Dr Fields and Lee...
I will always keep in my heart his smiling face and kind voice.
So many memories I could share of such a kind man, always encouraging the neighborhood kids and truly interested in our adventures.
I hold tight the gift he and Lee got me for my college graduation. It is a necklace with an orca whale charm... they bought it on one of their many fishing trips...
It will alway remind me of Dr. Fields.

I met DR Fields by chance through a Insurance medical exam at my home on Queen Anne many years ago. His smile and bow tie put me at ease. His love of life, skiing and Sun Valley left a ever lasting impression on me. God Bless Him
