My condolences to the family. Mr. Johnson, as we always called him, gave a lifelong gift to Ben and I (we were high school buddies) in the summer of 1969. He willed us to rebuild the motor on the family's "55" Chevy at the auto shop on McClellen AFB. I've drawn on that successful experience throughout my career and life, for that and other things I'll always be thankful to Mr. Johnson.

Alvin never...
