I am sad to learn that Alvin Lowi has passed. He was a extraordinary man, a brilliant engineer, a gracious host and a good friend. A conversation with Alvin was always interesting and you would be certain to learn something new. I will not forget first meeting him at his home in California, the long conversations that ensued and his capacity to surprise. He invited me to a lunch to meet some friends and what a lunch it was. There were engineering royalty present at that restaurant that day....
