Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

Alvin O. Parish, Jr. passed from this earthly life on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.  Alvin was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 12, 1942.

Alvin grew up in Archer County, living on the home place at the Parish Ranch until third grade.  While still in elementary school, the family moved to Holliday, Texas. He graduated from Holliday High School in 1960.  Alvin married Patricia Gayle Szenasi on October 7, 1961 and they had two daughters.  He worked his early adult years for Dial Finance, becoming a regional manager for them.  As his parent’s health began to decline, he returned home to Holliday and the family ranch.  He spent the remainder of his years farming and ranching.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holliday.

Alvin enjoyed a mean game of 42 dominos, Wahoo, watching sports or rodeos on television, or just a good conversation about cows and bulls.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife Gayle and his parents Alvin and Nan Parish.

He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (CD) Lundy and Lana (Keith) Nichols all of Holliday; his grandchildren, Makenzie (Kendel) Stubblefield, Mitch Lundy, Grayson Nichols, Malea (Peyton) Cannedy, and Addyson (Crue) Jackson; great-granddaughters, Parish and Peri Stubblefield; his sister and brother-in-law, Sallee and Albert Schoppa of Abilene; sister-in-law, Shirley Burgess of Mont Belvieu; and his long-time companion, Cherry Ferguson of Wichita Falls.

Our thoughts and prayers with your family. Alvin was such a kind, gentle soul, and a man of character. We’ve had the opportunity to lease and hunt a piece of his land, and he has shown us nothing but kindness and respect. We are so sorry to hear of his passing, but know he is with Christ and that is a great comfort.
