It was my privilege to get to know Al Price when I was serving in our Stake Presidency. We asked Al to help us bootstrap a Stake Institute program for the Edgemont South Stake which we started at the Timpview Seminary Building. Al was marvelous. In the 1960s, I was a member of an unruly youth Sunday School class in St. Paul, Minnesota. Our class went through several teachers until Brother Al Price was called to teach the class. He quickly earned our love and respect by teaching us gospel principles that applied to our teenage lives.

Bishop Alvin Price was bishop of the BYU 1st Ward when my wife Karen and I were young marrieds. He gave us considerable encouragement in our family and professional goals. Later we were colleagues when I became a BYU professor, and Karen and I were once again recipients of his kindness, generosity, and encouragement.
