Alvin E. Scolari

Always remembered

It was a pleasure talking care of this gentleman. I miss his smile.

We grew up living around the corner from the Scolari family on Forson Street many years ago. Mike and my brother Duane were the same age, I was two years older, we quickly became fast friends. From very early ages Al and Mary became our second set of parents. We spent as much time at Al and Mary's as we did our own home. It felt as if they considered us part of their family. A family that lasted generations.

We have so many fond memories of Al sitting in his basement...

Coach Scolari was my Babe Ruth coach in the early 1960s. I was very fond of and learned a lot about the game from him. In fact, I still play softball and senior baseball. Condolences to his family.

I first met Alvin when I was in high school and did not know at the time how it would shape my future. Alvin and Mary were very generous to us kids as teenagers. I was fortunate to work with Alvin during my college years as a mechanical engineering intern. Alvin was a great teacher and had a great work ethic. He could focus for hours estimating and listening to his favorite country music. Alvin and his sons invited me back to RHP several years later to work. I have many fond memories of...
