Alyce Bass SYDENSTRICKER

Was sad to hear of Alyce's passing. I was in her class of bookkeeping at Arnold Burton in 1969..she was a great teacher, always made class interesting. My sympathy and prayers to her family during this time of sorrow. May God bless you and comfort you

I have so many wonderful childhood memories of visiting Boo and Alyce at their home in Smith Mountain Lake. From the riding the ski-bob, to feeding the carp when Boo gasssed up the boat and Alyce's cooking (who can forget her cobbler) I always smile when I think of them and I will cherish these memories. Sending heartfelt condolences to the Sydenstricker family.

I loved Alyce like a Mother. She was a very special person to me. I taught with her and shared so many good times. I was blessed to have been able to spend the last year visiting and being with her. God took an angel and I have been blessed to have known her.

Through her son Bud, I learned of the genuine love Bud had for his Mother, the deep respect, and how dear she was to his heart. On the day she died we were deeply honored to share a beautiful meal with Bud and Luc in her honor at a table set with Alyce's beautiful wedding silver. She raised a remarkable son, my warmest sympathies are extended to her family and to the many whose lives she touched.

I was in a bookkeeping class Mrs. Sydenstricker taught at Arnold E Burton in 1967. She was a wonderful teacher and made her class interesting and fun. I never forgot her or the class - it's hard to create laughter in a "serious" class but she did! So sorry for your family's loss.

Alyce was a wonderful volunteer in Roanoke City Schools helping children learn to read. She will be missed greatly.
