Baca's Funeral Chapels - Las Cruces Obituary

ALYSSA MARYAH BACA, passed graciously on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the age of 25, following a daunting and courageous battle with liver cancer over a two year struggle. She spent her final time on earth surrounded by a loving family and earnest friends. Alyssa was ever impactful and influential to all of us no matter her state.

Loving referred to as “Shanny” by her father, Alyssa propagated a childlike demeanor and innocence that was uplifting and refreshing. It should be of no surprise, because of her wonderful perspective of the world, that she loved fantasy era literature and movies. She loved a good joke, and was very quick witted in making her own hilarious observations. Her personality resonated in her eclectic artistry and skill. She applied it practically in graphic design, but more revealing to her creative self was the amount of effort and thought that would go into creating for others, mostly because she was ever so insightful into the lives of those she knew.

At a distance, all were impressed with how meek and poised, up close you were taken aback by how strong and bold. Given her potential, it is completely unknown as to what she may have accomplished over a greater lifetime, but undoubtedly, we all have been robbed of Alyssa’s continued contributions. As a measure, the weight felt by the loss of Alyssa by so many demonstrates how much she meant to each one of us.

Alyssa Baca was born to Leon and Dedra Baca on August 17, 1991. She is not only survived by her loving parents, but also her brother, Thomas seven years younger, and a large extended family, each one impacted by the loss. She graduated in 2010 from Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, and was highly regarded at Admiral Beverage Company where she was working before being diagnosed.

The Memorial Service will begin at 2 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Las Cruces University Church of Christ, 1555 E. University Avenue, Las Cruces, NM 88001. If attending the family requests that a colorful attire be worn. If sending flowers, please send them from Flowerama for delivery on Sunday.
