Mimi was a kind, considerate, sweet, classy, loving, caring, fun- loving, smart, and a very special woman. She was more than a dear friend to me, she was like a Mother. Her wish would be that you live life responsibly, and to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. They say behind every successful man is a loving woman; that would be "MIMI". Truly an honor to have known her. We share a special bond that cannot be taken away; you will not be forgotten. See you in Heaven Mimi! God...

My sympathy and condolences in the loss of Ms. Hodges. Association with her in the oversight of the building and installation of The Herman W. and Amelia H. Lay Family Organ in the Symphony Hall was a special privilege and pleasure affording the opportunity to meet and become acquainted with a grand lady. It was my good fortune. I’m grateful for the memories.

Dear Bill,
Lalo and I are so sorry to hear of your loss. Mimi was such an amazing person. We enjoyed the many times we had together in La Jolla. You and Mimi were such wonderful neighbors and friends to my parents and in so many ways were part of our family. God Bless you and the rest of the Lay and Hodges family during this difficult time.

Although I did not know Mrs. Hodges, I am blessed to be acquainted with her lovely daughter, Dorothy. My sincerest condolences go out to you during your time of bereavement.
May God comfort and keep you as only He can do.

My Step-Mother, Mimi Hodges, was one of the finest women I have ever known. Married to my Dad for 21 years, she brought happiness to him after the loss of my mother in 1984, and he contributed to her happiness after Herman Lay passed away in 1982. Many times I have told her that I never once saw her angry at anyone. She never met someone that didn't like her, and if she disliked someone, nobody would ever know (as stated today by her son Ward at her beautiful memorial service). Thanks, Mimi,...

Best wishes to the family, and thanks for the chance to be apart of MiMi's last days. In the short time I knew her I could tell she was a beautiful woman.
