1923 - 2017 (Age 93)
Waterford - Amey B. Cueman passed away Friday, July 21, 2017.
She was born Aug. 29, 1923, in W. Mystic, the daughter of William and Eliza Wheeler Barber. She married Charles R. Cueman in Niantic in December of 1951. He predeceased her in 1984.
She graduated from Robert E. Fitch High School in 1942, and the Joseph Lawrence School in 1945, of which she was a life member. During WWII she was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, serving part of her time in the Army Hospital at Fort Devens, Mass. After becoming a registered nurse, she was employed at different locations: Wisconsin, Florida, and Connecticut, last working at Uncas on Thames Hospital in Uncasville retiring in 1980.
Her interests were traveling with her husband and researching genealogy. She was a direct descendant of Capt. Amos Stanton, Battle of Groton Heights 1781, and John Alden of the Mayflower.
She is survived by a brother, Russell W. Barber of Mystic, several nieces and nephews, one grand niece, and two grand nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Charles W. Barber of Groton.
