A good friend...

I had the privilege of working at the City of Newport News - EOC during the bad weather and always knew we were in good hands with Jack. So sorry for his loss to his family, he was a great man!

I was saddened to learn of Jack's passing earlier this week and wish extend my sympathies to his familiy. I worked closely with Jack during his entire time with the City of Newport News. We spent many hours together in the Emergency Operations before, during and after storms and other emergenices. There was no individual with the City that was more dedicated to his job than Jack. He served the citizens of Newport News well for two decades and deserved all of our thanks.

Jack was a dedicated Public servant. I also spent many hours with him at the Newport News EOC as a RACES amateur radio operator during many storms that affected our area. During those events and other times I had the pleasure of sitting with him and chatting about many topics. My prayers go out to his Wife and family.

Dear Brenda and Family,
Jack created the Newport News EOC. I remember when he got the funds to move the City's Emergency Operations Center from the basement of City Hall to the Public Works Operations Center in Oyster Point. He created a first class operations center there with various grants, that had the computers, radios, televisions, commuunications, programs and staffing when hurricanes struck the city. I was in the operations center with planning staff and department heads and staffs...

I am so sorry to hear of Jack's death. As a colleague in emergency management, I admired Jack's commitment to his city and his leadership in regional efforts to provide safety and security for the people of the Peninsula.
My sympathies to his wife and family and to all his many friends.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of a great man and leader of the City of Newport News EOC. As the city's HAZ-Mat Coordinator, our lives crossed paths in the performance of our job functions. He was both knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with on incidents and exercises for the city. May his family have peace knowing we shall meet him again in heaven. RIP Jack.
