Anastacio Mata Romero

Anastacio Mata Romero, 93, passed on November 27th 2022 surrounded by his loved ones at home. He was an extraordinary human being with the biggest heart and a great love for Christ. As his children we were blessed to call him "Dad/Papa" he taught us kindness, compassion and how to live Life with respect.

Our Father was born in a small ranch "El Sauz de Los Marquez" in Jalisco Mexico. He was an only child. Our father shared tough, challenging life moments with the passing of his father at the age of five. He also shared many beautiful memories with his mother, step-father and extended family. He learned to survive while working the fields as a child, at 18 he joined the military was the Sherriff and chief of arms for his small town. Few years later he met the love of his Life our Mother Maria Carmen Mata together they had 11 children and as of today they have 90 grandchildren and counting.

In Mexico, he was an entrepreneur at heart. Together with our mother they ran a small "neighborhood" store, billiards and cattle dipping vats for the local farmers. Years later, in 1972 he moved our family to the United States. He built a beautiful spiritual life for his family in California, purchased his first home in 1973. Together with our mother they became parishioners at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, they participated in the Eucharistic devotion/Eucharistic adoration and Marriage encounter.

Our Father was loved by many for his selflessness. He had the most beautiful spirit. Throughout his life he helped many people with food, housing and gave great life advise. We will miss his amazing smile, funny jokes and pranks.
