Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Obituary

Anastacio (Tacho) Luera Reyes, age 88, went to be with our Lord on January 31st, 2022. He was born on April 25th, 1933, in Midland, TX to Merejldo Reyes Sr. and Eucebia Luera Reyes.


A life-long Midland native, he attended school in Midland and retired from the City of Midland (Street Department). He also served our country in the National Guard.


He married Margarita Garcia on September 28th, 1957 and were married for 64 years and had three children.


Tacho will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, and that he knew no stranger. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Football games, western movies, game shows, and playing golf. He and his wife also enjoyed volunteering their time at Helping Hands for many years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.


He is survived by his wife, Margarita (Mage) Garcia Reyes and his sons Ramon (wife Tomi) Reyes of Midland and Oscar Reyes of Lubbock. Grandchildren Laura (Jacob) Ormsby of Albuquerque, NM, Adrianne (Adam) Hinojos of Greenwood, Monica (Sean) Ellis of Midland, Andy Garcia and Anthony Garcia both of Hobbs, NM, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Clyde Reyes and Merejildo Jr. Reyes, both of Midland, and his sister Lydia Mancha, also of Midland.


He was preceded in death by his daughter Rosalinda Reyes Garcia.


Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 3rd from 10am to 9pm at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home. The Rosary will be held on Thursday, February 3rd at 7pm, and Mass will be held Friday, February 4th, 2022, at 2:00pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment at Serenity Memorial Garden Cemetery following the church service.


The family is requesting anyone attending the services to wear a mask due to the ongoing pandemic.
