Anastasios Dick Poulos

Niantic- Anastasios Theodore "Dick" Poulos, 86, of South Washington Street died Wednesday November 30, 2011 at Bayview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Waterford. He was born November 25, 1925 in Thivritsa, Greece the son of the late Theodore and Maria Poulos. Dick immigrated to the United States in 1952 and then married the love of his life Sophia Sietos in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 18, 1953. Dick worked for many years for the Burlington Northern Railroad in Lincoln, Nebraska and later owned and operated a restaurant and bakery in Lincoln. He served in the Greek Army, was a 50 year member of AHEPA, a member of St. Sophia Church. He loved to garden and attend church but his true passion was his love for his grandchildren, their spouses and his great-grandchildren. Besides his wife Sophia he is survived by 2 daughters Mary and her husband Nick Mladenovic of Wethersfield and Elaine Dimitriou of Waterford, 1 brother Gus Poulos of Sioux Falls, SD. 4 Grandchildren Tania Dimitriou, Stacy and her husband Tory Pachis, Kristen and her husband Nick Matsas and Jason and his wife Roula, 7 great-grandchildren Naliseanna, Navonte, Sophia, Christian, Christos, Marina and Evangelia. He was predeceased by his beloved son Theodore Poulos in 1994. A special thank you to all the staff of Bayview Healthcare Center and Hospice for their kindness and fine care during Dicks stay there. Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 5, 2011 at 10 O'clock at St. Sophia Hellenic Orthodox Church 200 Hempstead St. New London. Interment will follow in Cedar Hills Cemetery in Hartford. Calling hours will be held Sunday December 4, 20011 from 2 to 4 Pm at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home 48 Grand Street Niantic. Kindly omit flowers.
