Andrea Martz Norfleet

Andrea and I worked together at Genzyme and then Sanofi Genzyme. I would run clinical trials, and she would write and edit the manuscripts for publication. I was thinking of Andrea today when I saw her name in the acknowlegements section of a publication on eliglustat, then an investigational drug and now an approved treatment for Gaucher disease, a rare genetic disorder. I recall Andrea telling me that she lived in Maine and worked remotely. Most of our interaction was by telephone, but...

Andrea was my high school classmate. I'll always remember not only her intelligence she was but also kindness and great sense of humor. I'm sending my sympathy and prayers to all of her family members and friends.

I was very saddened to learn of Andrea's death, and extend my condolences to her husband, family and friends.
I lost touch with Andrea years ago, while she was still in Florida, something I always regretted. She was a casual genius, funny, creative, interesting, happy, unselfish and good, and I was not surprised to see how much she accomplished and that she had such a fulfilling life, albeit one that was much too short.
