Smith Family Funeral Home - Fallon Obituary

Andrew Jacob Blackwell

October 15th, 1986 - July 23rd, 2021

Drew passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Friday July 23rd while in his home in Fernley, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Britney Blackwell, his mother and stepfather Amanda and Randy Helms, his father, Tony Blackwell, his brother, Brian Blackwell, his sister and brother in law Kayla and Christopher Piccirillo, and his stepbrother, Stephen Helms.

Drew was an amazing person who loved life, spending time with his friends and family. He was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina where he graduated from Hopewell High School, after which he began his career in the Navy. Drew had many accomplishments during his 15 year Naval career, including the prestigious rank of Chief by the early age of 32. For the majority of his career he was stationed in Virginia Beach, VA where he met and married the love of his life, Britney.

Drew was loved and admired by everyone who knew him, especially his family. We will always cherish the memories we hold of him throughout his childhood and adult life. He will be dearly missed until the day he is reunited with his loved ones in eternity.

The celebration of life for Drew will be held on Thursday, August 5th, 2021 at Crossroads Community Church, 1807 Lawing Rd, Charlotte NC 28216.  Receiving family at 11:30 am and Service at 12:30 pm.

Not sure what to say?

Drew, it was an honor and pleasure to serve with you. My condolences go out to your family and loves one. I will miss all the good times we had. You were a true friend, and shipmates.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

The Helms family has been such a loving presence to me growing up and it was an honor to meet Drew at Kayla and Christopher’s wedding and celebrate together. Sending sincere condolences and love to the whole family.

We know Britney loved you with all her heart and she loved being your wife. We never got the chance to get close, that is something I will always regret. I pray you are finally at peace and watching over Britney, waiting for the day she will see you again.

Drew,
It was an honor to serve with you and an even bigger honor to just know you. You will be missed by so many. Rest in peace brother.

It was an honor to serve with you, it was an even bigger honor to call you a friend. I am glad i have the memories that i won't forget , from fishing and snorkling, taking mini vacations and heading down to see you and spend a few days. Or to the endless amounts of fun we had working. You will be missed deeply by everyone.
Love you brother

Looking back at drews baby pictures he was a cutie he grew up to be a good looking man I remember laughing an joking with him lots of times going on beach trips an shooting some pool an catching some fish he loved being around his family he will be missed love u drew

My Drew,
I wish I could have told you how much I love you that morning instead of our typical goodbye kiss. I wish I held you longer that last time we embraced. I wish I listened more when you had a story to tell. I wish we stayed up laughing longer, cause I miss your laugh so much and smile the most, besides those beautiful blue eyes. I just wish I was there more. I wish you were here now. But most of all I just wish you're at peace. Because I don't have to wish to know I will see you...

I knew Andrew for a short time and he always was an uplifting person with deep honor. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Sending you prayers.
