ANDREW BROWN Obituary

A chapel service will be held on Monday, November 7, at 2 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. Andrew "Andy" C. Brown passed away unexpectedly on October 15. Andy was born in Bakersfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Chuck and Alice Harriger, and Jim and Bernice Brown. Andy joined the Brown family on May 18, 1981. He was a very loving child growing up; he frequently ran up to a family member and hugged them and said to them, "I love you." Andy excelled at athletics. He was good at any sport he tried, but he had an especial love for football. He was a great Jack Frost and East High School star on the field earning All-League honors as a Linebacker his senior year. He loved playing for East and loved his coaches and teammates. He was also honored to play in the Prep Bowl All Star game following his senior year. Andy showed great talent for working with young men when he coached frosh-soph football with his Dad at Stockdale High School during the 2001-2003 football seasons. Andy's coaching ability helped those teams earn a 27-2-1 record. His positive influence on the young men he worked with continues to this day.
Andy was an avid reader and writer. His favorite book was Mallory's "L'Morte de Arthur"; he loved the King Arthur legend and shared his father's love of science fiction and fantasy. He wrote quite a bit of poetry and found it a way to express emotions that was otherwise hard to do.
Andy's memory will be cherished by his loving parents, Ron and Char Brown, his brother Corey Brown, his aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, and lots of friends whose lives he touched. Andy was a Christian Believer, a wonderful son, a terrific brother, a warm friend to all and possessed a warm heart and generous spirit. His family is thankful to God for his life.
A visitation will be held Sunday, November 6 from 4-8 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park's chapel.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I did not know Andy very long only a few shot months, but he made a lifelong impression on me. He and I became very close it was an honor to me that he looked at me as his sister. He and I shared many deep talks, and saved me in many ways. He was an amazing person. Loving, kind, generous, and I loved him as tho he was my brother.
