Chadwick Funeral and Cremation Service, LLC - New London Obituary

Newbury, NH - Andrew “Andy” Champy died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH at the age of 40 due to complications evolving from a spinal cord injury.

Andrew was born on February 4, 1985 on the Cherry Point Air Station in Havelock, NH, to David M. Champy and Linda J. Plunkett.

He graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in 2003 and completed one year at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne, MA, followed by one year at the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH.   After giving formal education a chance, Andrew followed the beat of his own drummer, and became happily employed working with his hands.  He livened up the kitchen at the Little Red Baron on his off days from working landscaping and LaValley Building Supply.  His happiest days were working for Wet Basement Solutions.

Andrew was a quick learner and an intuitive thinker, quick witted and held a special place in his heart for babies, old people and dogs.   A man of few words with great meaning.

Surviving family members include his father, David M. Champy of Sweden; mother, Linda J. Plunkett and her husband Paul G. Krause of Newbury, NH; brother David F. Champy and his wife, Olivia, and his son, August of Grey, ME; brother Mikael Champy, sister Alexandra Champy, brother Daniel Champy and sister Katarina Champy, all of Sweden.  Andrew leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins and a plethora of friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Church, 32 Pearl Street, Claremont, NH.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Newbury Firefighters Association, PO Box 373, Newbury, NH 03255.

Love Donna and Larry Shultz

Funny, tenacious football player, (very) quick wit, kind, thoughtful, couldn't be around him and not laugh.
Will be missed but always thought of with a smile.
Sending hugs to the whole family.....

To Linda and family,

Great kid, great worker, and a great friend. He was like a son to me
