Andrew Conway "Tommy" Estes Jr.

Obituary

ESTES, Andrew Conway "Tommy" Jr., 85, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 after a brief illness. Mr. Estes was a retired manager for the Reuben H. Donneley Company. He also worked as a tax advisor for many years with H&R Block Company. Mr. Estes served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a pilot. He was a proud member of the John Marshall Cadet Club and a longtime member of the Westwood Racket Club. Mr. Estes was preceded in death by four sisters who adored him and his beloved wife of 23 years, Thelma McDaniel Estes. He is survived by his son, Michael C. Estes of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Michael's mother, Helen Myers Goodloe; his stepdaughter, Sherry H. Eikenberry and her husband, Michael, of Denver, Colorado; a stepson, Michael Caulkins of Richmond. He is also survived by his nieces, Anne R. Howard, Joan W. Boze, and Paula W. Robins and their families, all of Richmond; a nephew, Kenneth Britt and his family of Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Estes is also survived by his dear and devoted friend, June H. Miller and her extended family with whom he enjoyed many happy occasions. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Road. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Richmond Animal League or the Richmond SPCA. One of Tommy's kindest traits was his love of animals and especially his fondness for a cat named Angel.

Tom was a true gentleman, in every sense of the word! I enjoyed working with him at HRB and have missed him much since he left the company, He always made you happy with his attitude and kindness!
